VPN
Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) provide secure and cost-effective remote access. However providing access to sensitive information and systems implies the need for strong Authentication.
VPNs can be configured to use external RADIUS servers for authentication and as PINsafe incorporates a RADIUS server there is a very easy integration route for all VPNs.
Similarly VPNs pull user information via LDAP from repositories such as Active Directory. As PINsafe does the same, it is easy to ensure that both systems share the same user-data.
Where browser-based authentication is used (eg TURing image) it is possible with most VPNs to modify the login page of the SSL VPN to include the TURing image. This provides a completely seamless integration.

If it is not possible to incorporate the TURing image in the log on page, the user can retrieve their TURing images from PINsafe using a small taskbar client that can reside on their desktop.

Other Features
For some VPNs, additional information can be passed back with the authentication response; this may include group membership information used for authorisation or signalling to the end user that they need to change their PIN, to allow the user to be redirected to a Change PIN page.

We have a number of integration guides that explain the steps required for VPN integration. If you require information about a VPN not listed, contact support@swivelsecure.com .
