Swivel - Authentication You Can Identify With - logo

WEB

Websites are in increasingly being used for more than just publishing information.  The ubiquity of browsers means web sites are being used:

  • as a portal for the sharing of information between enterprises and their partners and customers
  • a means of publishing applications (eg Outlook Web Access)
  • a means of conducting e-Commerce and internet-banking.

The new users to which websites are being put increased the need for strong authentication.

However Websites often have thousands, hundreds of thousands or millions of users.  These users need not be members of the enterprise that owns the website and this makes token-based solutions difficult and expensive to implement.  PINsafe however does not require a physical token to be distributed, manage, recalled etc and the ability to instantly provision and de-provision users makes PINsafe and ideal authentication solution for websites.

For Websites based on Microsoft's IIS server, Swivel can supply a PINsafe IIS Filter (ISAPI Filter). This can be deployed on the website via the IIS management console and can be configured to protect all or some of the website pages. Users attempting to access a protected area of the website will be presented with a PINsafe Login Page and they must successfully authenticate via PINsafe before they proceed. The login form is can be customised to meet any branding requirements etc.

For other technologies, other solutions exist or can be developed.  For example Swivel can supply a Servlet Filter  for J2EE based web applications.
